Scraptastic South West December A-Z Challenge

Hi ladies

Just wanted to share with you the next A-Z challenge at Scraptastic South West. The challenge for the letter (U) is to create a layout using 20 flowers and using Dimensional Magic or Glossy Accents somewhere on your layout. Here is my example of the letter (U) my layout is called "Unite us again, one day"

I used the flowers to border my photograph and I also used the dimensional magic on the flowers also and on my p/paper to enhance the pattern.

This layout is dedicated to my cousin (GARETH), whom I had never met before, let alone even knew existed. To cut a long story short my grandfather and sister haven't spoken in 62 yrs after my grandfather left England after WWII to move to Australia. My mother made contact with Gareth and his family through Ancestory.com. To our disbelief after more then 10 yrs searching we had found them. We had a family re-union in April on the Gold Coast this year to mark the occasion and Gareth, Aunt Brenda and Uncle Brian flew out from the UK to come and stay with us. A fantastic time to be remembered all round.

I now have found you Gareth and you will be never lost again, hence my title Unite us again one day! Gareth lives in London and I hope that one day we can go over with my own family to meet Gareth again and see how life is on the other side of the world.

Thanks for listening and allowing me to share this with you all:)

Centre Stage Artist ~ Charmaine Otto

Hello everyone!

Welcome to the month of December and hasn't certainly come around quick!

This month's featured Centre Stage Artist is the lovely Charmaine Otto. I would like to share with you a little about Charmaine with her biography she has sent me with her design work.

********************

Centre Stage Artist

Charmaine Otto

I took up scrapbooking about 4 years ago as not only a way of keeping myself from the boredom, but also, as a keen photographer, I wanted to use my photo’s in a creative way, instead of just having them in an album or “just on the computer”.

My main subjects are my children, Jackson (8) and Ebony (5), the everyday things they get up to, their little personalities and other important events that happen in their lives.I live in Upper Yarraman, Qld, on a cattle property, which has its own ups and downs with the drought, as we are constantly feeding and watering cattle, checking fences and generally making sure the farm is in good working order, and with plenty of machinery around there is heaps of photographic opportunities!

My main focus is definitely the photo’s. I love the whole process of scrap booking. From taking the photo’s to choosing papers and embellishments and then the creative process that pulls it all together.

Charmaine has been published in For Keeps and Scrapbooking Memories
and is also a
Design Team member for THE BOXX!

Check out Charmaine's Blogs to see more of her inspirational work

Scrapmarathon at Woolgoolga High School

Hi everyone!

Well the last scrap marathon for 2008 was held last Saturday at Woolgoolga High School.
Sue Larsen from the P&C of the high school organised an eventful day with around 18 participants coming along to enjoy scrapbooking, cardmaking and a whole heap of festive cheer.

The theme was of course Christmas with it being just around the corner and a few people got dressed up for the occasion in festive clothing! Dizzy Di as she is known took out best dressed, Di had all the trimmings including bells hehe. Congratulations Di pictured here:

There was also a Christmas card competition which was judged by Marco from the local newspaper. Marco had a hard decision, but ended up giving 3 prizes away to the ladies with their beautiful creations pictured below are the winners.

From left: Dawn, Marco, Di and Robyn Congratulations Ladies:)

The day started out well already, at 11 am we had a wonderful Christmas demonstration from Dianne Spies from Stampin Up! Dianne made these wonderful little Santa designs that could be used as a table setting or bon bon, just gorgeous and very easy to assemble too. Thanks Di, as these will be a great hit on my table this year also a message for Candy Cane's for them to hang on the tree.

I also got the chance to catch up with Dawn and learnt how to make a gift voucher cover, which is just adorable and another thing I will be using this year, as we give voucher's or gift cards away for Christmas too, so thanks Dawn, I really appreciate your time given. Pictures of all things are as follows:

Santa placement, Gift Card cover and Candy Cane story.

I helped Sue with making some morning tea, after the lady who usually cooks had prior commitments, so I made Caramel Slice, a cinnamon tea cake and truffles for after dinner. Dinner was lovely Thai cuisine dishes with fresh steamed rice (yummy) and went down a treat as well as the truffles.

The day also consisted of Raffles, challenge competitions and a treasure hunt. There was lots of laughter as per usual and I got the chance to catch up with some ladies I hadn't the chance to catch up with before at previous events. I got to sit with 3 new ladies I haven't met before for the day and I must say it was great to meet you all.

Pictured here as follows are Emily, Robyn and Tracy

Thanks for a wonderful day ladies I'm so looking forward to seeing you at the next scrap marathon in Feb/Mar 2009. There was three sections of tables with participants I have tried to take shots of all three tables.
Special thanks to Sue Larsen for all your hard work and dedication for these event days, your truly appreciated.
Hope your all have a wonderful and safe Christmas if I don't see you before then ;)

INTRODUCING

CINDY ROBERTS ~ SCRAP.N.ART DESIGNER

I have always been a crafty person, mostly cross stitching, beading and sewing but 3 years ago I came across scrapbooking and was hooked.

Although I have put my other crafts aside, I still incorporate them into my layouts. Scrapbooking is a wonderful, creative way to record our lives and just a great way to unwind at the end of the day.

My family is my inspiration, especially my two beautiful daughters. No only do they enjoy being in front of the camera, they love reliving their lives through the layouts and the journaling. I hope to continue to develop my scrapbooking skills and love being able to share my layouts with others.

Deb's Challenge # 3 ~ Its your day to SHINE.

Hi all

Here is my latest take on Deb's challenge # 4. I called it "Its your day to shine beautiful lady"

This is my first time trying a shabby chic layout, I used embossing plates to create the swirls down the side on the right and inked them to enhance and the matted frame around the photograph which I sanded back because its core-dinations cardstock.

I used my retro flower punch to punch out on remaining Kaiser papers and used 3D tape to add dimension to them. TFL Angie

Deb's Challenge # 1 completed

Hi all,

Just wanted to share this layout with you:) Its challenge #1 from Deb's Creations for a heritage/vintage layout, here is what I came up with. It's called "forever friend walk together with PRIDE!

Original title was the new Kaiser range of chipboard but I decided to distress the title with signature range of patterned paper and Tim Holtz distress walnut ink.

The photograph is of my grandfather and his brother in law at Central station in Sydney. My gramps is on the right hand side of the photo.
