Deb's Creation Challenge # 2

Hello there!

Grab a cuppa, drink or tissue, its going to be long, and there is a layout to finish the story off at the end.

This morning I woke up earlier enough to feel a little better about myself and finally get a paper layout finished for Deb's Creations. This is for the Challenge # 2 and my layout is called Play Hard, Live Loud!

This layout has a HUGE SYMBOLIC REASONING behind it and the photographs speak for themselves.

Back in April last year we had a massive family re-union and I mean huge. My grandfather was looking for his family over in the U.K. and we had been searching for almost 10 years for memory to try and see if his sister Barbara was still alive. My mother decided to go onto the Internet and place our details on a website called Ancestry.com a website based on family tree history and finding family. After all it was back when Grandad was in his 20's he had left England to move to Australia and lost contact with his family after the War.

Mum had a hit from the ancestry website saying someone wanted to get in touch with her regards details that she had placed on there regarding my grandfather etc. So without hesitation mum got in touch with Gareth Mitchell, whom at the time we didn't even realise would be a major part of our family history. Mum spoke to Gareth and they concluded that his Grandmother Barbara and my Grandad Nick were in fact Brother and Sister and who had been searching for each other all these years.

The excitement was over bearing and we couldn't believe we had found each other and we as a family were about to be able to speak to our new relatives via web cam that we didn't even know existed and yes Grandad and Sister spoke for the first time in 62 years.
The tears even typing this roll down my cheeks. As it turned out, Gareth is the son of Brenda who is actually my mums cousin, which means Gareth is my second cousin.

Barbara Grandad's Sister was too ill to fly to Australia so in saying all of this Uncle Brian who is Barbara's son Grandad's nephew, Brenda my mum's cousin and her son Gareth my second cousin decided they wanted to meet with us!!! So a year of planning and they arrived here in Australia to meet the family they never knew existed in April 2008 and we called this trip "POM FEST".

As a new family we celebrated the reunion with all the trimmings. My mum organised a HUGE birthday party for all the ones that we had all missed out on so everyone got to celebrate their birthday in a special way. The ironic part about this whole thing is that we are so much alike in every way! Personalities, looks and even traits. We had a fabulous time and wanted to mark the occasion with something very unique.

We came up with a design for a tattoo to mark the special event. The Southern Cross to represent Australia and the Mandarin writing in the middle of the tattoo saying Williamson our family name! Those who didn't want to get the tattoo, had special necklaces made to remember it by as well so they didn't miss out all together.

Pictured in the photo here is myself on the right, Gareth my cousin in the middle and his mother Brenda on the left. We each got the tattoo on our backs and my Aunty Jo from Western Australia got hers on her ankle. My brother since the event has had his placed on his forearm also.

I decided that I would scrap this event as it means so much to have a symbolic meaning to my family name and something to pass onto future Williamson generations. This year Grandad and my mum will be flying over to the U.K. to see them again and to finally get closure with his sister after all these years.

Thank you for listening and allowing me to share this with you.

ITS THE FINAL LETTER OF THE A-Z CHALLENGE

Hello ladies:)
Well its official, the A-Z Challenge at Scraptastic South West is finalised. I am sharing with you the last letter (Z) in a layout I designed called "Zodiac Babies". The reason for the title is for the photo. The photo of my cousin and I pregnant at the same time of course, but we never thought we would have our babies on the same day let alone the same time!!! Yes you heard right!

I was 2 weeks overdue, My cousin was 2 weeks early and we lived 2 hours time difference, Erin being in Western Australia and I in NSW of course, but yes we had them the same day, same time:)

I have attached a photo taken earlier in the months prior to delivery of our pregnant tummy's together at Grandads 80th. Mine on the left and Erin on the right hand side of the photo, boy time has flown and our little girls are well all so grown up now! My cousin and I have always been on a close level, but this would have to be something that we will remember for a long time and now the girls can too with this layout dedicated to them.

Same rules apply for letter (Z)! Three entrants (people) needed to participate for the prize to be allocated and the prize will be a $20 online gift voucher to spend at Scraptastic South West. Entries need to be in by the 27th of February 2009 and no later then Midnight.

Thanks to everyone who participated in the A-Z challenge over at Scraptastic South West, its been 26 fortnights since we started, but a milestone effort to say the least. I have really enjoyed creating this challenge for you and I hope to see you all back next month for the new and exciting challenge I have the privilege of running at SSW.

Hello there!

WOW! I'm getting addicted to this Digi Scrapping well for the moment anyhow, cause that is all I can do whilst I recover in bed half the day. This is one I came up with tonight called "Party Diva's" a digi kit I purchased recently from Digital Candy, great elements and papers and fabulous colour ranges.

I have only done a couple of digi layouts now, but they are so much fun to do and no mess to clean up! hahaha Eventually I will get the hang of drop shadows and positioning of elements but until then I'm happy to learn and create for now.

Thanks for allowing me to share this with you:):)

A-Z Challenge at Scraptastic South West ~ Letter (Y)

Hi there!

The tasks I have set for the letter (Y) challenge is to create the illusion of Dimension on your page and to also use the letter (Y) in your title.
I have an example here of what I have created to give you a visual idea. I have used Dimensional Magic all over the page to enhance the area I wanted to stand out, like the birds and the flowers. I also used 3D Dots to raise the bird cage off the page and also the flowers.

The choice is yours in regards to what you subject matter is, but the idea is to try something you may or may not have before in regards Dimension.

There is a $20 online gift voucher to the lucky participate who wins the (Y) challenge to spend at Scraptastic Southwest. There has to be a minimum of 3 entrants (people) to make the prize valid and fair.

So have a go, you never know and who doesn't like receiving free stuff for there efforts:):)
Scraptastic South West store is at: http://www.scraptasticsouthwest.com.au/

Update on Health, Kids and life in general

Good Morning Ladies

Grab a cuppa, its going to be a long one (sorry) but its full of the info of my actions as to why I haven't been around as much and essential for you to know why I wont be around in the next few days/weeks!

October to January has been quite hectic months for me, organising, planning and generally trying to look after myself, health wise and trying not to stress myself out to much! LOL

I was diagnosed in October for all who dont know with Cervical Cancer. The last four months has been a uphill battle for me, not only with getting my head around the whole situation, but for what was going to happen with me and to rectify the situation and make me feel better. I have been booked in for a full hysterectomy tomorrow Friday the 6th. I timing reminder for you all to have regular pap smears, as early detection can save your life.... Amongst this I have to still get on with life and prepare the family for their new adventures as well.

Dakota started Pre-school on the 19th of January and was going along seemingly well, until she had to miss a day being the public holiday for Australia Day and it thru her out of sink, now she screams every time I drop her off and cries every time I pick her up, but in between that, she is mostly pleasant and sits with her bag on her back waiting for me to collect her.... Awww tell you, it breaks my heart, but something she needs to get used to and so do I.

Curtis has also begun his journey of discovery with beginning Kindergarten, he is the least of my worries, is totally keen to begin this and was practically up at 5.30 showered and in uniform waiting at the door! Ekkkkk Keen as mustard as they say! hehehe His transition to Kindy has been great, his teacher is very impressed with him and has passed his assessment task with flying colours. His says Curtis is a keen student with great ambitions, I'm so proud of my little man and its so cute to see him in his uniform.

Monday was my first day off in 5 years without kids or hubby!! my god the silence was deafening and I was walking around in a daze. I did however, get my housework done in the quickest time ever. I got to accomplish all those things I had been putting in the basket for later pile too and felt a sense of tidiness I haven't felt in a long time. Before long, my day off was over and it was time to collect the kids.

My weekly days off will be Monday, Wednesday and Friday's, the other days I will have Dakota home, which is still nice to spend those days with her and cherish it before she leaves me as well to start school. :(:(

Tomorrow (Friday) is going to be the most anxiety filled day ever for me and unfortunately bad timing for so many reasons. I was informed by Curtis school that their having there yearly swimming carnival on FRIDAY!!! first week back and having a swimming carnival, the weirdest thing I have ever heard off, but that schools for you.
I wouldn't be upset about this that much if I or hubby could actually attend, being the kindy kids need one on one supervision at the pool, but I'm going into hospital to have surgery, so we are a little besides ourselves as to who, what and when this is all going to take place and how are we going to get the kids picked up, settled in without their mummy and what to expect as our kids are not prone to go with anyone else but us.

My mum arrives today from QLD to come look after the kids whilst Jay is working and I'm in hospital, which is great and a HUGE HELP!!! I'm comforted that she will be here for the kids anyhow and to keep everything running as smoothly as possible. I will be in hospital for 3-5 days in recovery and then I will be allowed to come home, but not allowed to drive cars or do anything really but complete bed rest:(

That alone if you know me, will be the hardest task I have ever had to do in this lifetime (RELAX and I) don't get along to well. I know that I cant be stupid either, so this is going to be my own little journey and learning to just let things get dirty and have my house upside down so to speak! hehehehe the visions already are driving me nutty.

This is the real reason for this post and to let you know I may not be around as much as I was before Christmas and also why I haven't been around since then, because its the last two months have been hectic for me, stress wise, work wise and also life in general. I endeavour to have laptop fully charged so I can at least get emails completed and update my blog from time to time and hopefully pop over to your blogs to see what is happening, but if you don't hear from me don't panic I'm just resting up, but still feel free to leave me messages and emails, as I always love hearing from you!

To everyone who has been sooooo supportive of my health issues and there for me when I have been stressing out I cant thank you enough. The last four months has been a roller coaster ride for me, but without the support of friends and being able to express my worries and fears I don't know what sort of basket case I would be right now! SO THANK YOU :):)

Ok so with saying all of that, I will now leave you all alone, I will probably make a few more post today with different things and I will endeavour to touch base with you again real soon after surgery.

GOD BLESS YOU ALL xox Angie

A new look for the blog
