Good Evening All

Well its Thursday and nearly the end of the week, here's to a great weekend and getting some more scrapping completed before I head back to school:):)  The weather here in Cairns is glorious at the moment, cool morning and nights, but the days are warm and delightful!

I thought Id drop a line and post a couple of layouts I have been working on for the Sketchabilites website I didn't get to post these here as I have had many things to get organised whilst on holidays.    The sketch numbers are #116 and #117, credits to the talented Karan Gerber for her wonderful designs.  Below you will find the sketches and my interpretation to follow.

Happy Hump Day

Well Wednesday is seeming to come around far to quickly these days and with the school holidays coming to and end, I feel another week would be great to have off!!!  The first week I spent getting house in order and things I have been putting off for some time now!  Along with that, the joy of getting tax ready for submission always seems a daunting task, but never mind its done now and on its way!

I have had a good few nights chillaxing and getting some scrapping done, so I cant really complain!

I wanted to share with you one of my latest creations for 'Heart and Soul' website and the colour room challenge ~ Palette #170.  The design team have created a challenge Palette which has a gorgeous colour combo along with adding "Toothbrush' effects into your design.

The joy of using the Colour Room Palettes is it takes the hard work out of it for you with them selecting colours and details.  All you have to do is find a pic and create a design to match it.  Playing along couldn't be easier and you also give yourself a chance of winning the monthly RAK available.

Below is the Colour Palette from the Heart and Soul and my interpretation to follow.  This time around I decided to use a digital format from the Sweet Shoppe.com.  The kit is one of the talented Jenn Barrettes ranges and the kits name is called 'You only live once'.  Credits To Jenn for her wonderful creations that you will see!

I used a digital element of spritzing of white on the left hand side of my page, by using the household item of the 'Toothbrush' required from Heart & Soul.  The only extra element used on my page was the wiring around the photo of Dakota which is from 'Its a kind of Magic Kit from Sara Belmont from Sweet Blossom Designs.  The layout is called 'You should know'

My interpretation of the sketch: 'You should Know'

Well that is all I have for now, I will endeavour to get the rest up on display later today, as I have a couple of things I still need to get completed before the holidays finishing.

I hope this message reaches you all safe and well!

Many thanks for popping by and seeing my creations, I really appreciate your support:)  Until we speak again, take care of yourselves and each other!

Good Afternoon

Thought Id drop a line and say hello and upload another layout I completed last month for the Sketchabilites website.  The sketches are always a great way of getting your creative mojo back if your struggling a little to come up with some ideas.

This post is for the sketch design # 114.  A layout created for my daughter who would dearly love to one day become a great dancer.  I have always loved the song Tiny Dancer by Elton John and I think the title suits the photo perfectly.

The photograph I took of her was at a friends studio back in 2010, when they were getting organised for the 'Dance Connection' yearly concert.  I remember Dakota as tiny as she was, saying one day mummy, I want to be a ballerina!  Marie had just received the new Tutus ready for the concert and she decided that Dakota would certainly have the chance to feel just what its like to be a Ballerina, even if she had never taken any lessons.  The pose she made for me to take this photo was such an angelic one and the room had a warm fuzzy feeling about it with the natural light coming through a window, that I started to click the camera straight away.

Below you will find the sketch and my interpretation, called 'Tiny Dancer'

Hello there and Happy Friday!!!

I hope this message finds you safe and well:)

Well its been a couple of weeks since my last post and I promised myself I would make more of an effort this year to post more of my creations, so without posting all at once here is one of my recent creations for 'Heart and Soul' website and the colour room challenge ~ Palette #168.  The design team have created a challenge Palette which has a gorgeous colour combo along with adding "Thread' into your design.

The joy of using the Colour Room Palettes is it takes the hard work out of it for you with them selecting colours and details.  All you have to do is find a pic and create a design to match it.  Sometimes the Colour Room creators add a sketch into play which makes it even easier to play along and give yourself a chance of winning the monthly RAK available.

Below is the Colour Palette from the Heart and Soul and my interpretation to follow + close-ups.

 Palette # 168

My interpretation of the colour format and use of "Thread".  My layout is called:- Discovery, always half the adventure.

I have used the thread in the areas underneath the flower cluster and also around the top and bottom of the mounted photograph.

I must say I really enjoyed this challenge and I certainly stepped out of my comfort zone on this one, taking some inspiration from an inspirational artist Di Garling, someone whom I have always admired as a friend and also as a wonderful creator of different styles of mediums used within her layouts.

The challenge is set every month, so if your interested in giving this a go, click on the link here The Colour Room  and it will take you directly to the website.  There is plenty of inspirational artists there to see and view their creative visions.

I look forward to posting some more news soon.  Until then, take care of yourselves and each other;)

Good Evening All

Firstly I would like to say HAPPY INTERNATIONAL SCRAPBOOK DAY :) :)

I really wanted to get some scrapping done today, but unfortunately the housework and end of my study needed attending too!

Recently I completed a challenge over at Captivated Visions.  The challenge was called Creative Skills 2.    There were ingredients needed for this and I must say was going to be real challenging based on the fact I am a self taught digi scrapper, with not much experience in the world of putting together what they wanted, but nerveless I wasn't about to be afraid of giving it a RED HOT GO!!!

The best thing I love about the Captivated Visions site is that they have free tutorials there for everyone to connect with for all different levels of digi scrappers.   So I grabbed myself a cuppa and sat down to learn.  I was amazed just how many different tutorials there were, and now I had a keen sense to get right in there and have a go.

Below are some of the details needed on what was required for the ingredients, the main thing was to use 80% of your design using the Captivated Visions digi kit range, this I well and truly had under control after a recent shopping spree I had done there and I also had a photo in mind to match the colours I had planned to use.

Challenge Ingredients/Rules:
* Use ONE paper and recolour just a PART of it - check out the tutorial on Playing with Papers.
* Use ONE Edge Overlay on your page - try using one of the techniques in the Playing with Edge Overlays tutorial.
* RECOLOUR 3 (three) elements using the How to Creatively Recolour PNG files tutorial.

Using these ingredients I came up with my layout called 'Surfs Up'.  The photograph I had taken a while back now when I was living on the Gold Coast, Queensland Australia (for all who live overseas).  The photo was taken early morning, one of my favourite times of the day!

SURFS UP

Captivated Visions Kits
Walkaway, A little Birdie told Me and Hope Shines Bright
Assorted City Brushes

Techniques:

1. Using the Walkaway collection series from Rachel, I created my base page using the walkaway mm.06, using the magic wand I changed the colour in certain areas of the corners of my page to a deeper green.

2. Using the series “A lil birdie told me’ overlay I changed the colouring, by enhancing and adjusting the colour in the hue/saturation area.  I proceeded to also add two more corner overlays from the walkaway series and change the colour to white using the same enhance colour changing process and also using the Drop box to add depth and shadowing.

3. I proceeded with the three elements being the changing of the walkaway-ep.paint png and changing the colouring of this and adding a drop shadow box to enhance the gesso area.  I then using a brush effect called Assorted City Scapes added a Linear Dodge effect to the brush and placing it behind my title(Surfs Up) and lastly using the Captivated Visions kit “Hope Shines Bright’ distressed words, I used a special effects tool and added the (small noisy border) to complete this over the top of the Worded brush in the top left hand corner of my layout.

It was a fun challenge and I really like the way I stepped out of my comfort zone on this one, I look forward to the next challenge set and learning some more skills to create another memorable layout.

Thanks for dropping by and seeing my creations.

Until next time, take care of yourselves and each other:)

Palette 167 Colour Room Challenge

Good Afternoon

I hope this message finds you safe and well:)

After having a couple of weeks off for the school holiday period, I promised my creative mojo that I would jump in and make the most of the time off and get creating.  There are a few layouts that I would like to share with you that I have created, but in separate post of course.

Firstly I wanted to share the layout that I have created for the challenge site 'The Colour Room'.  The design team have created a challenge Palette which has a beautiful colour combo along with another challenge of adding a household item into your creation "Clothing Tags".

Below is the Colour Palette from the Colour Room and my interpretation to follow.

 Palette # 167

and my interpretation of the colour format and use of 'Clothing Tags'.  Layouts called:- Love you 4-ever, DON'T FORGET Today.

I had some tags off the kids MAMBO clothing range a lil while back (lucky I kept them), which were circular, so I decided to cut my photo's into the dimensions and use them to mount on top.

I look forward to completing some more of these challenges.  The challenge is set every fortnight on a Friday, so if your interested in giving this a go, click on the link here The Colour Room  and it will take you directly to the website.  There is plenty of inspirational artists there to see and view their creative visions.

I look forward to posting some more news soon.  Until then, take care of yourselves and each other;)

Bad blogger of the year:(

Hi all

Ummm, no excuses here! Its already been a busy year and to be honest, not a whole heap of scrapping completed either:( Time flies I guess when your feet just feel like they cant get a grip on the ground.

Trials and tribulations occur through life and recently I haven't been very well and in saying so, had to have emergency surgery in late November 2013.  Luckily enough I work with the Education system and was able to have a complete rest over 6 weeks and now feeling recovered and back to work again.

Looking forward to completing a few more layouts than last year, so here's to a fabulous year all round!  'Onwards and Upwards' :):)

Anyhoo, just a short one today as  I  wanted to share with you on a latest layout I completed for a friend.  Its a layout of her gorgeous little girl, who is just a delight to scrap, and I look forward to later giving as a gift on canvas when we get the chance to catch up with them again.

The layout is called 'Curious You'

Thanks for popping by and viewing my creations, I promise to make more of an effort this year and I truly look forward to blog hopping and seeing your wonderful creations also:)

Until then, take care of yourselves and each other.
