Good Afternoon

Thought Id drop a line and say hello and upload another layout I completed last month for the Sketchabilites website.  The sketches are always a great way of getting your creative mojo back if your struggling a little to come up with some ideas.

This post is for the sketch design # 114.  A layout created for my daughter who would dearly love to one day become a great dancer.  I have always loved the song Tiny Dancer by Elton John and I think the title suits the photo perfectly.

The photograph I took of her was at a friends studio back in 2010, when they were getting organised for the 'Dance Connection' yearly concert.  I remember Dakota as tiny as she was, saying one day mummy, I want to be a ballerina!  Marie had just received the new Tutus ready for the concert and she decided that Dakota would certainly have the chance to feel just what its like to be a Ballerina, even if she had never taken any lessons.  The pose she made for me to take this photo was such an angelic one and the room had a warm fuzzy feeling about it with the natural light coming through a window, that I started to click the camera straight away.

Below you will find the sketch and my interpretation, called 'Tiny Dancer'

Hello there and Happy Friday!!!

I hope this message finds you safe and well:)

Well its been a couple of weeks since my last post and I promised myself I would make more of an effort this year to post more of my creations, so without posting all at once here is one of my recent creations for 'Heart and Soul' website and the colour room challenge ~ Palette #168.  The design team have created a challenge Palette which has a gorgeous colour combo along with adding "Thread' into your design.

The joy of using the Colour Room Palettes is it takes the hard work out of it for you with them selecting colours and details.  All you have to do is find a pic and create a design to match it.  Sometimes the Colour Room creators add a sketch into play which makes it even easier to play along and give yourself a chance of winning the monthly RAK available.

Below is the Colour Palette from the Heart and Soul and my interpretation to follow + close-ups.

 Palette # 168

My interpretation of the colour format and use of "Thread".  My layout is called:- Discovery, always half the adventure.

I have used the thread in the areas underneath the flower cluster and also around the top and bottom of the mounted photograph.

I must say I really enjoyed this challenge and I certainly stepped out of my comfort zone on this one, taking some inspiration from an inspirational artist Di Garling, someone whom I have always admired as a friend and also as a wonderful creator of different styles of mediums used within her layouts.

The challenge is set every month, so if your interested in giving this a go, click on the link here The Colour Room  and it will take you directly to the website.  There is plenty of inspirational artists there to see and view their creative visions.

I look forward to posting some more news soon.  Until then, take care of yourselves and each other;)

Good Evening All

Firstly I would like to say HAPPY INTERNATIONAL SCRAPBOOK DAY :) :)

I really wanted to get some scrapping done today, but unfortunately the housework and end of my study needed attending too!

Recently I completed a challenge over at Captivated Visions.  The challenge was called Creative Skills 2.    There were ingredients needed for this and I must say was going to be real challenging based on the fact I am a self taught digi scrapper, with not much experience in the world of putting together what they wanted, but nerveless I wasn't about to be afraid of giving it a RED HOT GO!!!

The best thing I love about the Captivated Visions site is that they have free tutorials there for everyone to connect with for all different levels of digi scrappers.   So I grabbed myself a cuppa and sat down to learn.  I was amazed just how many different tutorials there were, and now I had a keen sense to get right in there and have a go.

Below are some of the details needed on what was required for the ingredients, the main thing was to use 80% of your design using the Captivated Visions digi kit range, this I well and truly had under control after a recent shopping spree I had done there and I also had a photo in mind to match the colours I had planned to use.

Challenge Ingredients/Rules:
* Use ONE paper and recolour just a PART of it - check out the tutorial on Playing with Papers.
* Use ONE Edge Overlay on your page - try using one of the techniques in the Playing with Edge Overlays tutorial.
* RECOLOUR 3 (three) elements using the How to Creatively Recolour PNG files tutorial.

Using these ingredients I came up with my layout called 'Surfs Up'.  The photograph I had taken a while back now when I was living on the Gold Coast, Queensland Australia (for all who live overseas).  The photo was taken early morning, one of my favourite times of the day!

Walkaway, A little Birdie told Me and Hope Shines Bright
Assorted City Brushes

Techniques:

1. Using the Walkaway collection series from Rachel, I created my base page using the walkaway mm.06, using the magic wand I changed the colour in certain areas of the corners of my page to a deeper green.

2. Using the series “A lil birdie told me’ overlay I changed the colouring, by enhancing and adjusting the colour in the hue/saturation area.  I proceeded to also add two more corner overlays from the walkaway series and change the colour to white using the same enhance colour changing process and also using the Drop box to add depth and shadowing.

3. I proceeded with the three elements being the changing of the walkaway-ep.paint png and changing the colouring of this and adding a drop shadow box to enhance the gesso area.  I then using a brush effect called Assorted City Scapes added a Linear Dodge effect to the brush and placing it behind my title(Surfs Up) and lastly using the Captivated Visions kit “Hope Shines Bright’ distressed words, I used a special effects tool and added the (small noisy border) to complete this over the top of the Worded brush in the top left hand corner of my layout.

It was a fun challenge and I really like the way I stepped out of my comfort zone on this one, I look forward to the next challenge set and learning some more skills to create another memorable layout.

Thanks for dropping by and seeing my creations.

Until next time, take care of yourselves and each other:)
